The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 index closed December on 312.69, down 0.1% on the previous month. This is the third monthly decline for the index in 2017. It also fell in April and September.
The biggest risers and fallers in December were all from Bordeaux. Ausone featured the most: both the 2001 (+6%) and 2011 (+4.7%) vintages were among the top risers, while the 2009 (-13.4%) and 2012 (-4.5%) were among this month’s biggest fallers.
Older vintages from Leoville Las Cases 1996 and Grand Puy Lacoste 1990 also fell, down 4.1% and 6.5% respectively.
Despite December’s dip, the Liv-ex 100 closed the year up 5.7%.
