Opus One 2014 was released today at £2,500 per 12×75. At this price, the wine is being offered below all the other recent vintages currently available in the market.
Antonio Galloni awarded the wine 95+ points. In his tasting note he said that “the 2014 is not an obvious Opus One, like the 2010, 2012 or 2013, but over time, I will not be surprised if it challenges or even surpasses some of those vintages.”
James Suckling was also full of praise. He described the wine as “mesmerizing” and awarded it 97 points.
The Rest of the World 50 index – which is made up of the ten most recently physical vintages for five wines from Spain, Portugal, the USA, and Australia, including Opus One – is up 17.5% year-on-year. It has outperformed the Bordeaux 500 index which is up 14.6% over the same period.
