Suduiraut 2016 has been released at €45.60 per bottle ex negociant, equal to the release price of the 2015 (€45.60).
It is being offered by the international trade at £545 per 12×75. This is 13.5% higher than the 2015’s opening price of £480 per 12×75, making it now the most expensive vintage available on the market.
Critics have praised the wine’s complexity. Neal Martin commented “What a great Suduiraut in the making here, so full of character and complexity, and yet you still feel as if it has something up its sleeve” (94-96). James Suckling called it ‘Very sweet and complex. Complete Sauternes.’ (95-96).
Buyers searching for value in the back vintages might look to the similarly-scored 2006 or 2007, available at discounts of 45% and 41.3% respectively to the 2016.
