Cheval des Andes 2021 has been released through La Place de Bordeaux. It is being offered internationally for £660 per 12×75, 17.9% lower than last year’s opening price (£804 per 12×75).

Critical response
Joacquin Hidalgo (Vinous) awarded the wine a score of 97 points. According to him, this vintage of Cheval is ‘leaner and more ethereal than other years, but has a higher level of precision’.
Matthew Luczy (The Wine Advocate) also awarded 97 points, praising the wine’s ‘beautiful combination of savory charm, serious depth and focused intensity’.
‘A wonderful Cheval des Andes, luscious, layered and nuanced,’ said Jane Anson, also awarding a score of 97 points,
Pricing analysis
While today’s release of Cheval des Andes comes at a discount to last year’s, it remains more expensive than other better-rated vintages available on the market. The 98-point 2020 vintage was released at £804, but last traded at £636 — slightly below the price of the new 2021.
The 2018 and 2019 vintages, both receiving 98-point scores from The Wine Advocate, present similar value.
