‘One of the most exciting wines I have tasted here in a long time, maybe ever’ said Antonio Galloni (Vinous), awarding the 2023 Pape Clément 95-97 points.
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded 93-95 points, commenting that ‘the 2023 is cut from a very different cloth compared to recent vintages, more classic in style’.
Jane Anson gave a score of 93 points. According to her, the wine ‘delivers an exuberant, confident estate signature, supple texture, roasted black cherry and cherry pit, cocoa bean and espresso’.
According to Yohan Castaing (The Wine Advocate), the 2023 vintage is ‘less oaky than the previous years, more of a contemporary expression of this great terroir’. He awarded the wine 92-94 points.
Lisa Perrotti Brown MW (The Wine Independent) awarded 93-95 points, mentioning notes of ‘stewed plums, crème de cassis, and blueberry preserves, plus suggestions of tar, licorice, dried herbs and crushed rocks’.
