Château Quintus 2022 released en Primeur 

  • Château Quintus 2022 has been released at £1,152 per 12×75.  
  • Neal Martin scored the wine 92-94 points and notes it ‘should age well’. 
  • Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2019, 2016 and 2014 vintages.  

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Quintus has been released at €96 per bottle ex-négociant, up 33.3% on the 2021 release (€72 per bottle)

It is being offered by the international trade for £1,152 per 12×75, up 29.7% on the 2021s opening price (£888 per 12×75).

Critics’ scores  

Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 92-94 points and mentioned in his tasting note that the wine ‘will need several years in bottle’ and that it ‘should age well over two or three decades’. 

Yohan Castaing awarded the wine a barrel range of 92-94+ points, calling it ‘one of the best wines produced at this estate’.  

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) gave the wine a score of 94-96 points.  

Fair Value analysis  

Château Quintus Market Prices are not significantly correlated to Neal Martin scores, the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology. At £1,152 per 12×75 for the new release, buyers looking for value might want to consider back vintages instead.   

The 2019 vintage received a rating of 94 points from Neal Martin and is available at a Market Price of £570 per 12×75, slightly less than half the price of today’s release. The 2016 vintage also scored 94 points and is available at a 34.9% discount to today’s release (£750 per 12×75).  

The 2014 vintage also looks attractive, with a score of 93 points from Neal Martin. It is also available at around half the price of today’s release, with a current Market Price of £575 per 12×75.
