As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Haut-Brion Blanc has been released at €600 per bottle ex-négociant, flat on the 2021 release (€600).
It is being offered by the international trade for £7,200 per 12×75, down 1.6% on the 2021’s opening price (£7,320 per 12×75).
The new release is one of the cheapest Haut-Brions of the last decade. However, buyers looking for other opportunities do have options among higher-scoring back vintages. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 92-94 points, calling it ‘an excellent Haut Brion Blanc’.
Jane Anson awarded the wine a score of 95 points, calling it ‘a thoroughly well-structured white wine’.
James Suckling gave the wine a score of 98-99 points and mentioned in his tasting notes the wine’s ‘great length and stature’.
Fair Value analysis
Château Haut-Brion Blanc Market Prices are not significantly correlated to Neal Martin scores, the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.
While today’s release is one of the cheapest available on the market, the higher-scoring 2020, which is now physical, is available at a 2.5% discount to the 2022. The 96-point 2019 is available at a Market Price of £7,500, a 4.1% premium to today’s release.
The 2021 vintage of Château Haut-Brion Blanc has the potential to be the highest scoring of the last decade, with a barrel range of 96-98 from Neal Martin. It is available at a Market Price of £8,092, a 12.4% premium to today’s release.
