- Château Pavie 2022 has been released for £3,576 per 12×75.
- ‘Powerful and yet undeniably harmonious’ said Neal Martin, who rated it 93-95 points.
- Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2016, 2018 and 2020 vintages.
As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Pavie 2022 has been released at €300 per bottle ex-négociant, up 28.2% on the 2021 release (€234).
It is being offered by the international trade for £3,576 per 12×75, a 28.5% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£2,784 a case).
The 2022 vintage is being released with a special engraved bottle to celebrate 25 years of the Perse family at Château Pavie. The volume released is also 70% down year-on-year, which may go some way to explaining the price increase.
At this price, the 2016, 2018 and 2020 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel range of 93-95 points, describing the ‘undoubtedly decadent and rich’ profile that is balanced against texture and tannins. He mentions that he is ‘intrigued to revisit this after bottling’.
‘Like an unpolished diamond’, noted James Suckling who scored the wine at 95-96 points. He highlights the wine’s profile, calling it ‘full and layered without being heavy’, and full of ‘velvety, edgy tannins.
Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux) gave it a score of 95 points, calling it an ‘impressive Pavie’ that is ‘wonderfully intense and concentrated’. In her words: ‘Powerful, will take the full ten years to come around’.

The 2020, which was scored a barrel range of 95-97 points from the critic, is also available at a discount of 28.3% to today’s release.
