As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Malartic-Lagravière 2022 has been released at €33.60 per bottle ex-négociant, up 16.7% on the 2021 release (€28.80 per bottle).
It is being offered by the international trade for £408 per 12×75, an 18.6% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£344 a case). This year’s production was 25% down on the 2021 in terms of volume.

Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a score of 93-95 points. In his tasting note he mentions that ‘this is an excellent, quite “swarthy” Malartic that will age with style, though it will only repay the patient’.
James Suckling gave it a barrel range of 95-96 points. In his tasting note, he said that ‘this is very, very fine with wonderfully polished tannins that are silky in texture’. He added that it ‘could move up a notch with the elevage’.
Jean-Marc Quarin awarded it 95 points. He commented that it is ‘very aromatic in the middle’ and that ‘the wine evolves full and melting, with the unctuous grace of the vintage’.
Fair Value analysis
There is no significant correlation between Malartic-Lagravière Market Prices and Neal Martin scores – the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.
Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 2019 and 2020 vintages. Both were scored 95 points by Neal Martin (Vinous) and are available at discounts of 32.8% and 25.3% respectively to today’s release.
