Opus One 2019 has been released through La Place de Bordeaux this morning along with its second wine, Overture.

Critical response
The current Wine Advocate score for the 2019 is 97-99 points. Then-reviewer Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW said it was a ‘truly magnificent Opus One in the making’.
Jane Anson scored the wine 98-points. She said it was a ‘brilliant Opus One, showing nuance, depth and concentration’.
Writing for Vinous, Antonio Galloni gave it a rating of 97-points, saying it was a ‘dense, beautifully layered wine’.
Fair value analysis
The 2019’s opening price of £3,024 puts it at an immediate premium to the 2018’s Market Price of £2,829.
Last year’s release has a score of 98-points, and has traded consistently since its release. In fact it has been the top-traded label in the secondary market from among those launched through La Place last year.
Nonetheless, the 2019 is less expensive than other back vintages with similar scores. The 2016 for example has a Market Price of £3,096 and the 2013 costs £3,788.
Buyers looking for value might also consider the 2015, which has a Wine Advocate score of 97-points and is available for £3,000 per dozen.
