Critics’ scores
Today’s release was one of Neal Martin’s highest scored Bordeaux 2021 wines, with a barrel range of 95-97 points. In his tasting note for Vinous, Martin said that ‘this is more linear than Haut-Brion [Blanc] and stricter, yet the precision on the finish is a wonder to behold’.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) gave it 94-96 points and called it ‘a positively gorgeous wine by any measure’.
The wine received 93-95 points from William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) and Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent). Both critics remarked on the grapefruit notes and long finish.
The 2021 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc also boasts 95-96 points from James Suckling and 96 points from Jane Anson.
Fair Value analysis
Buyers looking for value might consider the 2019 and 2018 vintages, which are available below £5,000 per case.
The 2012 also looks attractive, offering bottle age and 96-98+ points from Robert Parker.
