As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2021 has been released at €225 per bottle ex-négociant, down 10.7% on the 2020’s opening price.

It is being offered by the international trade for £2,700 per 12×75. The 2012 and 2014 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded today’s release a barrel range of 93-95 points, noting that it is ‘blessed with an ethereal bouquet’. He said that ‘you could argue it is slightly “aloof”, yet intuition tells me it has something up its sleeve for later on’.

Antonio Galloni (Vinous) gave it 92-94 points and also commented on its ‘lovely aromatic presence and fine balance’.

William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) scored it 94-96, revealing that ‘this charming, sensual rendition of La Mission is a blend of 48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc, attaining 13.4% alcohol’.

The wine also boasts 94-95 points from James Suckling, 92-94 points from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) and 97 points from Jane Anson.
