As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2021 has been released at €105.60 per bottle ex-négociant, up 10% on the 2020’s opening price.  

It is being offered by the international trade for £1,262 per 12×75. The 2019 and 2016 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.  

Across the estate’s stable, volumes released are down 45% on what they were in 2020. 

Critics’ scores 

Neal Martin (Vinous) rated the wine 94-96 points, saying it was a ‘cerebral Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc that will benefit three or four years in the cellar’. 

‘This beautifully integrated, characterful white is going to be thrilling to revisit in bottle,’ said William Kelley (Wine Advocate), who also rated it 94-96 points. 

It was awarded 96-points by Jane Anson and 94-96+ by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent). 

Fair Value analysis 

The 2021 vintage is one of the best-rated vintages of the estate’s white wine. However, the 2019 and 2016 vintages have equal or better scores and are currently available for less. 

The 2019 has a Market Price of £1,006 per case (12×75) and the 2016 for £992 per dozen. 

Other releases 

The Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc was released for €25.20 per bottle ex-négociant. It is being offered for £302 per case (12×75).
