Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded today’s release a barrel range of 90-92 points. He said it offered ‘a harmonious, defined bouquet of red and black fruit laced with black truffle and well-integrated oak’.

William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) gave it 91-93+ and called it ‘a fine effort’. He further noted that ‘mildew pressure combined with wet conditions that made it impossible to enter the vineyard with tractors’ which ‘delivered low yields of only 18 hectoliters per hectare, and the grand vin is entirely Merlot this year’.

James Suckling scored it 92-93, while Jane Anson rated it 91 points.

Fair Value analysis

The 2021’s opening price comes at around a 35% premium to the price implied by Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology. Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 2012 and 2019 vintages, which boast 95-points and cost about 9% less.

The 2020 also looks attractive, with 94-points from Martin and at £600 per case.
