We recently caught up with Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, co-founder of The Wine Independent, to discuss the Bordeaux 2021 vintage.
She spoke of how the year had put its ‘imprint’ on the style of the wines, with their low alcohol levels and ‘bright’, ‘refreshing’ nature – and well managed tannins.
As well as the ins and outs of the new vintage – its positives and negatives, the wines she’d like to drink and the strength of the white wines – she also spoke about her approach to scoring the wines for her new venture.
She admitted it was a vintage with a character and profile that she had not tasted for a number of years.
Nonetheless, she stressed the importance of fairness and consistency on the part of the reviewer and why she felt scoring many 2021 wines in the ‘80s was ‘fair’ for the vintage.
There are currently LIVE opportunities for Bordeaux 2021 on the exchange.
