As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Léoville Barton 2021 has been released at €55.80 per bottle ex-négociant, down 7% on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £669 per 12×75. This is less than the 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages but slightly more than some physical vintages with similar scores. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a score of 93-95 points saying it was, ‘focused and very well delineated, classic in style’.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded it the same score saying it was a ‘terrific success’. ‘A wine to buy in memory of Anthony Barton,’ said Jane Anson who gave it 94-points.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) scored it slightly lower at 90-92 points.
Fair Value analysis
Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 2014, which is available for £630 per dozen, or the 2017 at £570. Both wines have the same score from Martin as today’s release.
Similarly, with a score of 94-points, the 2018 is currently available for £680 per dozen – a slight premium for a wine with a few years in bottle.
