Emmanuel Rouget was a new entrant and the biggest riser in the 2021 Power 100 rankings. The brand, named after winemaker Emmanuel Rouget (the nephew of Henri Jayer), rose 205 places from 249th in the 2020 Power 100 to 44th in this year’s list.
Emmanuel Rouget’s performance in the Power 100
Emmanuel Rouget’s success in this year’s ranking was largely due to its price. With an average trade price of £5,052 per 12×75 (between 1st October 2020 – 30th September 2021), it was the eighth most expensive Burgundian brand in the rankings. The wines have also been subject to increased UK and European demand. Between October 2020 and September 2021, 24 different wines and vintages (measured as LWIN11s) from Emmaneul Rouget have changed hands on Liv-ex.
The brand’s lowest-ranking category, however, was trade by volume, where it lagged due to the scarcity of the wines which are produced in tiny quantities.
Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux leads trade by value
The most expensive offering from the brand has been the most traded by value – the Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux. The average annual production of Emmanuel Rouget’s Cros Parantoux sits at 3,000-3,500 bottles. The vineyard Cros Parantoux was acquired by Emmanuel Rouget’s uncle Henri Jayer and is shared with Domaine Méo-Camuzet.
In 2021, the 2018 was the most traded of this label. It last traded at £24,112 per case and its Market Price has increased 6.4% year-to-date. The second-most traded Cros Parantoux, however, was the 2003, which has risen 34.7%.
