In every month since April of this year, a vintage of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s Romanée-Conti has hit a new all-time high.
The latest was the 2009 vintage, a wine Antonio Galloni (Vinous) called a “breathtaking bottle”. This week it hit a new price per bottle of £18,000.
Last month the 2006 hit a high of £16,333 per bottle, the 2005 reached a new level in June, the 2011 in May and the 2013 in April.
The record highs are part of a wider rebound for this leading Burgundian estate’s wines. From August 2019 to April 2020, the DRC index declined 8%.
From April last year to the end of July, the index rose 12%. Burgundy’s indices more generally are currently on the rise. The Burgundy 150 (of which DRC’s wines are a core component), is up 9.8% year-to-date; the best-performing sub-index of the Liv-ex Fine Wine 1000.
