Château Montrose 2020 has been released En Primeur for €128 per bottle ex-négociant, up 33% on the 2019’s opening price.
The wine is being offered for £1,540 per case by the international trade. This is 28% more expensive than the current Market Price of the 2019.

Critical Opinion
Montrose was among the estates that did not send samples to critics this year. Its best score comes from Decanter’s Jane Anson who scored it 98-points.
“This is a great Montrose, inky, broad-shouldered and structured,” she said in her note. “This will need a long time and will reward patience.”
James Lawther MW for JancisRobinson.com awarded it an 18+ agreeing it had, “long ageing potential”.
Fair Value
In the absence of a Benchmark Critic score, there are plenty of back vintages that look compelling by comparison.
The 2014 and 2018 vintages both have a score of 96-points from Neal Martin. The 2014 is 54% less expensive than the 2020 and the 2018 10% cheaper.
The 2015 and 2017 vintages both have scores of 95-points and are available at discounts versus today’s release of 48% and 57% respectively.
Although it also has no score from Martin, the 2019 is available for £1,200 a case.
Other Wines
Second wine, Dame de Montrose, was released for €29 per bottle ex-négociant. It is being offered by the international trade for £350 per dozen.
