Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2020 has been released at €50.40 per bottle ex-négociant, up 16.7% on the 2019’s opening price.

It is being offered by the international trade for £607 per case, 12% more than the current Market Price of the 2019.

Critical Opinion

The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has received high scores and praise from leading critics. Neal Martin rated it 95-97, noting its “almost understated bouquet” which then opens in “glorious fashion”.

“Beautifully balanced,” he continued, “this is a brilliant GPL from the Borie family”.

Antonio Galloni at Vinous was similarly enthusiastic, rating it 93-96 points, saying it “dazzles from start to finish”.

Elsewhere it picked up 96-97 from James Suckling and 95-points from Jane Anson.

Fair Value

According to the methodology, today’s release comes in as “Fair Value”. Grand-Puy-Lacoste’s prices correlate most closely with age and Neal Martin’s scores (see chart above).

Buyers looking for buying opportunities in back vintages will immediately find it with the 2019 at a 12% discount. The 2014 as well, at under £500 a case and with 95-points from Neal Martin, is another option among physical vintages.
