- The wine has been released at £324 per 12×75 SEP.
- The release price of the 2020 is the same as the 2019’s initial release but makes the 2020 8% more expensive than the 2019 at its current Market Price.
- The new vintage has been scored 17+ by Jancis Robinson MW, who said it was “sleek and fresh”.
As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Coutet 2020 has been released at €26.40 per bottle ex-négociant, equal to the 2019’s opening price. It is being offered by the international trade for £324 per 12×75.
Although it has been released at the same price as the 2019, the new release is 8% more expensive than the 2019’s current market price of £300 a dozen.
‘Sleek and fresh’
There have not been many scores released for the wine so far. Jancis Robinson MW scored it 17+ noting it was: “Not one of the sweetest wines, or what I probably mean is that the acidity is more pronounced than in many of its peers. Sleek and fresh. But probably for relatively early drinking.”
Other scores include a 90 from Jean-Marc Quarin and 93-95 from the team at Falstaff magazine.
Back vintages
At its release price, it would need a strong score from benchmark critic, Neal Martin, at least a 95, to look truly compelling.
The 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019, all rated 95 by Martin, look to offer considerable value among back vintages.
