Cru Bourgeois Château Beaumont and St Emilion grand cru Tour Saint-Christophe have released prices for their 2020 wines, marking an (unofficial) start to this year’s campaign.
- The release price of Château Beaumont is an increase of 3.7% on the 2019 offer and 5% up on the current market price.
- The release of Tour St Christophe is 3.2% greater than the 2019’s initial offer and 4.1% more expensive than its current market price.
The 2020 Château Beaumont was released this morning (4th May) for €8.30 per bottle ex-négociant, up 3.7% on last year’s release of €8.
It is being offered by the international trade for £105 per 12×75, up 5% on the 2019’s current market price of £100.
Although more expensive than last year’s release, it is a cheaper offer than the 2015, 2016 or 2018 were en primeur and the same price as the 2017 was initially offered for.
James Suckling has rated the wine 92-93, calling it “linear and polished” and “very solid”. Julia Harding MW, meanwhile, rated it 15.5 saying she felt it was “rather slight” but that it could “turn into something more elegant”.
Tour Saint-Christophe was released this afternoon at €19.20 per bottle ex-négociant, up 3.2% on the 2019’s opening offer of €18.60 per bottle.
It is being offered at £276 per dozen, up 4.1% on the market price of the 2019. Suckling rated the wine 95-96, saying it had “lovely softness and purity”, with “very fine tannins”.
