Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue has released its 2019 vintage en primeur. The 2019 release covers six wines in total, five reds and one white.
The flagship wine, the 2019 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is being offered at £8,500 per 12×75, above the 2018 market price (£6,932). The 2019 was scored 98 by Charles Curtis MW, who covers the region for Decanter.
The 2019 Bonnes Mares is being offered at £5,600 per 12×75, also above its 2018 market price (£4,332). The 2019 was awarded 97 points by Curtis.
The domain owns nearly two thirds (7.2 hectares) of the Musigny Grand Cru vineyard as well as a small slice (just under 3ha) of Chambolle’s other Grand Cru, Bonnes Mares.
The domain resurrected its Musigny Blanc after a 20-year absence in 2017. The estate director, Jean-Luc Pepin, called it “our secret gem” and wine is being offered at £750 per 1×75.
The 2019 vintage was the first time since 1998 that the domain did not carry out a green harvest, as the yields were already so low after the poor flowering conditions and summer heat that marked the growing season.
