LIVE opportunities: Burgundy 2019 released

Burgundy 2019 has started to make its way onto the secondary market but the action remains around a strong group of back vintages.

There are roughly £14m in LIVE Burgundy offers and £4.5m in LIVE bids but where that activity is may surprise you.

Roughly 10% of the offers come from vintages pre-2000, dating all the way back to 1970 for Armand Rousseau, Chambertin Grand Cru 1970.

The majority of the offers are thus coming from the 21st century, with the famous 2005 vintage having the greatest bid:offer ratio (0.88) and the equally impressive 2010 vintage in tow (0.57).

2018 was the most traded vintage in 2020, however 2017 currently has the largest Bid interest and far exceeds all other vintages in terms of total activity.

As 2019 slowly enters the secondary market, what remains is a strong interest in the physical vintages just prior to it. Below, attached, are the Top Offers – those around Market Price – of the 19 vintages in the chart. We will keep you informed on the progress of Burgundy 2019 as its secondary market develops. History tells us that the newest vintage gets into its stride in the second half of the Q1 each year, once private allocations have been dealt with.
