Eight months into 2020 and it is clear that interest in Italian wine shows little sign of abating. Italy’s market share by value has risen from 8.2% in 2019 to 15.2% YTD. Distinct wines traded from the region (LWIN11s) have doubled from the equivalent eight-month period in 2019. And now one in every five unique wines that trade on your exchange is Italian.

Giacomo Conterno, Barolo Riserva Monfortino 2013 is leading all wines in trade by value for the year. Released in late 2019, the market for the wine softened and prices drifted from early trades but since mid-2020 there has been a steady 2-3% monthly price increase, while demand has not faltered.

Tignanello 2016 leads the region for volume traded and has also had a performance boost of late. Its price is up 5% from where it was a year ago.

Attached are LIVE offers of the top 100 Italian wines traded by value so far this year. Offers start at £106 per 6×75 for Poggione, Brunello Montalcino 2014.
