Clos Marquis 2019 has been released at €32.4 per bottle ex-négociant, down 11% on the 2018 release (€36.4). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £409 per 12×75, a 11.9% decrease from the 2018 opening price of £464 per case.
Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine a barrel score of 93-95, noting “there is a citric freshness towards the end of this accomplished Clos du marquis. Excellent”. Antonio Galloni of Vinous added, “the 2019 Clos du Marquis is a bold, luscious Saint-Julien with plenty of up-front appeal”, awarding a 91-93.
James Suckling gave the wine a 94-95. Lisa Perrotti-Brown awarded a 93-95 and noted the ABV was 14.1%.
Today’s release comes to the market as one of the highest scored vintages by Neal Martin, level with the 2016, but available at a 9.1% discount. Buyers looking for value may also consider the 2017. At 91 points from Neal Martin, it is equally scored to 2015 and 2018 but available at a 16.5% and 25.7% discount, respectively.
