Ducru Beaucaillou 2019 has been released at €114 per bottle ex-négociant, down 18.1% on the 2018 release (€139.2). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £1440 per 12×75, a 16.7% decrease on the 2018 opening price of £1728 per case.
Ducru Beaucaillou 2019 was awarded a potential perfect score from Jeb Dunnuck (97-100), Lisa Perrotti-Brown (97-100), James Suckling (99-100) and Jeff Leve (98-100), who noted the ABV reached 14.2%. Jane Anson gave it 98.
Neal Martin of Vinous gave it 96-98 points, stating “this is one of the most Pauillac-like Ducrus that I have ever encountered at this stage”, adding “there is a sense of completeness surrounding this Second Growth”. Antonio Galloni, also of Vinous, awarded a 94-96, and did note, “I won’t be surprised if the wines show better from a full bottle, but at the same time I can only review and comment on the wines that were sent to me”.

Today’s release is one of Neal Martin’s highest scored, equal to the 2016 vintage, but available at a 3% discount. It is just below the line, hinting at fair value. For followers of the critics above that awarded potential perfection, the newest release will offer greater value.
Additionally, buyers looking for a wine with bottle age may consider the physical 2008 and 2014 vintage.
Croix de Beaucaillou 2019 has also been released, at €27 per bottle ex-negociant, down 19.6% from the 2018 release (€33.6).
