Lagune 2019 has been released at €24 per bottle ex-négociant, down 21.6% on the 2017 release (€30.6). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £300 per 12×75, a 20.6% decrease from 2017 opening price of £378 per case.
The 2018 vintage was not produced at Lagune due to 100% damage from hail.
Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine 92-94 points, remarking “the 2019 La Lagune has a finely chiselled bouquet, a melange of red and black fruit, touches of damp clay, undergrowth and cedar developing with time”.
James Suckling awarded 94-95. Jane Anson (Decanter) a 94.
Price of Lagune have a 61% correlation to ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores.
Today’s release comes to the market as the cheapest available vintage yet one of Neal Martin’s highest scoring. The 2019 currently sits at a 20% discount to 2016, which also has been scored 93 points, and falls beneath the line, expressing its fair value.
