Neal Martin published his assessment of the wine today, scoring it 92-94. In his tasting note, he said that “the 2019 Sociando-Mallet has a lovely bouquet with vivacious raspberry, wild strawberry and rose petal scents, touches of undergrowth coming through with time, one of the most elegant noses from this property in recent years”.
James Suckling gave the wine 93-94 points, and described it as “a juicy, flavorful red with blackberry and blueberry character […] full-bodied and layered with hazelnut and spice undertones. Velvety and poised”.
Buyers looking for physical vintages might also wish to consider the similarly-scored 2016, available at only a small premium.
