Jeb Dunnuck has released Part 1 of a two-part series, including 435 scores from wines he tasted in May at his Colorado office. The second part of the series will be released at the end of June and will include additional reviews. The table below highlights his top scoring wines from Part 1.
Jeb Dunnuck found three instances of potential perfection, but it was Lafite Rothschild that stood highest among the lot. Lafite Rothschild 2019 released Friday of last week, down 15% from 2018’s UK opening price. Dunnuck stated the newest release was “truly a great Lafite, and maybe the wine of the vintage”, adding “it reminds me of the 2016, only with a touch more sexiness and opulence”.
Another First Growth, Margaux, touched with perfection, however the market has yet to see the newest vintage. Dunnuck was again reminded of the 2016 and described, “it’s a quintessential Chateau Margaux that will benefit from a decade of cellaring and keep for 50 years or more”.
Dunnuck’s third wine to touch 100 points was Ducru Beaucaillou and has received critical appraise across the board. “It’s another magical wine in the making from this chateau”, Dunnuck explained.
Dunnuck was complimentary of the 2019 vintage across the board and believes, “it will certainly be included in the list of recent great vintages including 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2016, and 2018”,
