Domaine Chevalier rouge 2019 has been released at €39.60 per bottle ex-negociant, down 25% on 2018’s opening price of €52.80. The wine is being offered at £495 per 12×75, representing a 23.8% discount on the 2018 release of £650 per case.
It comes with an international recommended price tag of 402.47 HKD, 47.45 CHF, 55.64 USD per bottle.
Domaine Chevalier blanc 2019 has also been released, at €57.60 per bottle ex-negociant, down 17.6% on 2018’s opening price of €69.90. It is being offered at £720 per 12×75, a 15% decrease on 2018.
James Suckling has scored both wines highly, awarding the Rouge 96-97 points and the Blanc 95-96 points. Jean-Marc Quarin thought the Blanc came out ahead in 2019 awarding it 95 points and the rouge slightly lower at 94 points. We await scores from other leading critics.
Based on today’s releases price, a score of 94 puts the wine on the fair value line. Any higher, as per Suckling’s score above, makes the wine good value.
There are many vintages of Domaine Chevalier rouge below the price of the newest release. This includes vintages 2011-2014, with the former being the highest scored of the lot, which appears to offer good value.
