Lafleur 2019 has been released and is being offered by merchants at £5,800 per 12×75, the same as last year’s opening price. The 2018 has since risen in value by 135.6% to now command a Market Price of £13,644 per case.
Bordeaux 2019 wines released in the past week include Palmer, Pontet Canet and Cos d’Estournel – all offered at 20% to 30% discount to last year’s releases.
By releasing at a price equivalent to its 2018, Lafleur stands out as the exception rather than the rule in this year’s campaign (thus far).
Lafleur ranked among Jean-Marc Quarin’s top-scoring wines, with 98 points. Many critics are yet to publish their assessment of today’s release.
Based on today’s release price, however, a score of 94+ would make the wine sit on the ‘Fair Value’ line. Any higher, and the wine would appear of very good value. As the chart below shows, Quarin’s score positions today’s release well below the price implied by Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.
For those unable to secure an allocation, the 2014 and 2006 vintages also look attractive. The 2016 also hints at value with 98 points from Neal Martin but at 71% premium.
Pensees Lafleur 2019 has also been released at £1,260 per 12×75, along with Perrieres Lafleur 2019, previously known as Guinaudeau G Acte, at £530 per 12×75: both same level as last year.
Other wines from the stable include Champs Libres (£530 per 12×75), Grand Village Rouge (£135 per 12×75) and Grand Village Blanc (£155 per 12×75).
