Last year was busy for LWIN, the free universal wine identifier. Our team carefully added 10,143 wines to the LWIN dictionary, bringing the total to over 80,000.
Although over 1,000 came from Burgundy, these hailed from regions as far and wide as Serbia and Costa Rica. The latter contributed to the 1,640 spirits that were added; Scotch Whisky made up the majority.
So much Scotch was added that the United Kingdom’s LWIN set was the third fastest growing, after France and the USA. The growing number of LWINs for English wine also helped.
In total, wines and spirits from 65 countries were added last year.
Of all the regions represented, Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone surely has the best name – but we have a German Bishop’s servant to thank for that.
We’re adding more wines all the time, so if there’s one that you need, let us know.
