Krug 2006 released

This week marks the latest UK release from the Champagne house Krug: Krug 2006 – “Capricious Indulgence”. The wine is being offered at £2,200 per 12×75, up 15.8% on the 2004’s release price of £1,900. Allocations are reportedly tight; however, there will be another allocation to merchants in 2020.

According to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelly (97 points), “Krug’s superb 2006 Brut […] numbers among the vintage’s high points, unfurling in the glass with a complex and expressive bouquet of tarte tatin, warm biscuits, ginger, honeycomb, dried white flowers, smoke and toasted nuts. […] While this is a powerful vintage Krug, it’s also beautifully balanced and will give immense pleasure for decades”.

Jancis Robinson also scored today’s release (18/20) and described it as “quite rich and polished […] long with a particularly rich finish”.

The Krug index is the third best performing Champagne index over the past decade, up 114.6%. You can find out more about its performance in our latest update on the Champagne market, or read about the brand in our Spotlight on…Krug here.
