Antonio Galloni (Vinous), who scored it 91-94 points, seemed to agree. In his tasting note, he said that “the 2018 Phelan Segur is another in a strong series of wines from this re-born property. Deep and persistent on the palate, the 2018 has a lot to offer.”
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Advocate) also reviewed today’s release in barrel, giving it 93-95 points. She described it as “medium to full-bodied with a solid backbone of grainy tannins and seamless freshness”.
At this price level, the 2018 stands above all other vintages displayed in the chart above. The physical 2016 is currently 14.1% cheaper. The 2006, with twelve years of bottle age, now retails at nearly 30% discount to today’s release.
