Clerc Milon 2018 has been released at €60 per bottle ex-negociant, up 19% on the 2017 (€50.4). It is being offered by the international trade at £732 per 12×75, up 17.3% on the 2017 release of £624 per case.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Advocate) awarded the wine 93-95 points and said it “has a wonderfully rich, confidently sensuous palate with plenty of spicy layers and a velvety texture, finishing long and perfumed”.
James Suckling gave it a slightly higher barrel range of 95-96 and described it as “very generous and dense with layers of gorgeous blackberries and blueberries”.
For Antonio Galloni (Vinous, 91-93), today’s release is “powerful and tannic” and “is going to need at least a few years to come into its own, but it is quite promising”.
Jeff Leve, who also reviewed the wine (94-96), suggested that “this is the best vintage ever produced at Clerc Milon”.
At this price level, Clerc Milon 2018 seems keenly poised between the 2015 and 2016 but commands a 24% premium on the 2017’s current value. Alternatively, the 2012 seems attractive with 92 points from Robert Parker and a Market Price of £620 per case.
