Yesterday, Quinault L’Enclos 2018 was released at €24 per bottle ex-negociant, up 11.1% on the 2017 release (€21.60). It is being offered by the international trade for £295 per 12×75, up 11.3% on the 2017 release price of £265 per case.
Critical reception for this year’s Quinault L’Enclos has been positive. Lisa Perotti-Brown (Wine Advocate) scored the wine a barrel range of 92-94 points and said it “slips seductively out of the glass”.
Anotonio Galloni (Vinous) commented that “there is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintage have not achieved” and awarded 91-94 points.
James Suckling even said that “this is the best Quinault ever for me” and gave the wine a barrel range of 93-94 points.
This year’s Quinault L’Enclos is coming to the market above a number of recent vintages. Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2014, which was awarded 92 points by Neal Martin, and is available at a 20% discount to today’s release.
