Penfolds Grange 2014 has been released in the UK at £4,140 per 12×75. This is an increase of 4% on the 2013 release price (£3,996) in sterling terms.
The wine received 98 points from The Wine Advocate’s Joe Czerwinski, who described it as “rich, concentrated and intense”.
Jancis Robinson also reviewed the vintage, awarding it a high 18.5 points. She commented that it is “very exciting” and “different”, and cited Penfolds’ chief winemaker Peter Gago who said that it might only be comparable to the 2004.
At this price point, the 2014 sits slightly above the 2004, which received a higher score and offers bottle age. Score-conscious buyers might also be interested in the 2008 and 2013, which were awarded a perfect 100 points, though they currently cost more.
Today marked the anticipated release of the full Penfolds 2018 collection, which includes wines at a variety of price points.
