Quinault l’Enclos 2017 has been released at €21.60 per bottle ex-negociant, a 9% discount on the 2016 price of €23.80. It is being offered at a recommended retail price of £265 per 12×75, a decrease of 7% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £286 per case.

Quinault l’Enclos has been owned by LVMH since 2008 and is managed by the same team as Cheval Blanc. Writing for Vinous, Neal Martin commented that the estate “has a slightly warmer microclimate than Cheval Blanc so it was not affected by frost at all”. He goes on to describe the 2017 as “very linear and conservative in style” and awarded it 89-91 points.

Chris Kissack was slightly more generous and scored the wine 92-94 points. He commented that it was “quite individualistic, ripe and charming”.

Buyers looking for value may wish to consider the higher scored 2014 (92 NM), which is available at a 26% discount to today’s release.
