Matthew Jukes has published his Bordeaux 2017 report on his website, Matthewjukes.com.
Overall, Jukes suggested that “2017 presented Bordeaux with a volley of vinicultural challenges and while some Chateaux coped admirably, others fell well short”.
Jukes commented that Bordeaux 2017, “is not, to my mind, a vintage with waves of stratospheric scores nor can it be summed up with sweeping statements”. Instead, “this is a vintage of identity, singularity and intent”. He goes on to say that “it also was a year when luck, too, played a big part in proceedings”.
Jukes’ highest score was 19.5 points, which he awarded to Ausone. In his tasting note, Jukes described the wine as “already close to perfection, but in this unpredictable vintage it is a serious triumph and my wine of the year”.
Jukes’ top-scoring reds can be found in the table below. You can download his report at Matthewjukes.com. You can also compare his scores to other leading critics on our critic scores page, which will be updated as more are released.
