Gloria 2016 has come out at €30 per bottle ex-negociant, 11.1% higher than the release price of the 2015 (€27). It is being offered by merchants for £360 per 12×75, up 26.3% on the 2015 release of £285 in Sterling terms. This is the highest ever opening price for any vintage of Gloria.
Critics have scored the 2016 fairly consistently. Jane Anson scored the wine 94 points noting that “it has just the right amount of drama, offering a tight and well-focussed delivery.” Neal Martin commented that this year’s vintage “has something up its sleeve for those with the patience to cellar it for eight to ten years.” He awarded Gloria 2016 93-95 points.
For buyers looking for value, the 2010 might look attractive. The wine has a score of 93, several years in bottle and is available at slight discount to the 2016. The 2009 might may be of interest for the same reasons, although it is currently trading at a slight premium to the most recent release.
