Eglise Clinet 2012 was awarded a potential 100-points – 96-100 – by Robert Parker following an En Primeur tasting of the wine in April 2013. Ahead of his in-bottle review of the vintage at the end of April 2015, it saw a small flurry of activity and traded for £2,000 per 12×75 at peak.
After tasting the wine in bottle Parker settled at the lower end of the range, scoring it 96. Prices dipped and at the end of October it traded for £1,448.
More recently it has received positive reviews following blind tastings at Southwold in January. Jancis Robinson named it among the best Pomerols – “as a group the most exciting red wines of the vintage” – tasted. Individually, she called it “a sophisticated lawyer” with “lots of layers and urbanity” and awarded it 18.5/20.
This appears to have contributed to a bounce: at the end of January, it traded for £1,430. Its last trade of £1,722 represents a 20% increase, bringing it back to the levels seen before Parker’s in-bottle report.
