Today Parker released updated scores for the 10 year old 2000 vintage, with three major wines losing their perfect scores. Lafite, Ausone and Cheval Blanc were all downgraded, to 98+, 98+ and 99 points respectively. Figeac (-8 to 85), Calon Segur (-3 to 91) and Le Pin (-2 to 96) were the other major losers.
Winners were harder to find. Haut Brion was bumped up to 99 points, currently trading at £5,500 (under a third of the price of Lafite 2000 at £18,000); is it now a strong buy? Angelus (RP +2 to 97), Evangile (+2 to 98) Grand Puy Lacoste (+1 to 94) and Leoville Poyferre (+2 to 97) all gained points, as did Pontet Canet (+2 to 94), which is trading at £570 per case (compared to the 2009 at £1,200).
Mission Haut Brion, Pavie, Lafleur, Petrus and Margaux all retained their perfect scores.
