Liv-ex Claret Chip Index edges lower

The Liv-ex Claret Chip Index closed at 371.65 on Friday - a fall of 1.10 per cent week on week. Prices for Latour and Haut Brion drifted, while several vintages of Lafite posted modest gains and the brand crept higher for the first time in 12 weeks. This can be seen from the chart below, which shows the individual paths of the index's component brands since the start of the year.

Lafite 2004 registered the most notable week-on-week price growth, climbing from £6,716 on the 7th of October to £7,150 on Friday. Margaux, Mouton and Lafite 2008 also swam against the negative tide, but remain substantially below peak levels.
