  Liv-ex Fine Wine 50

Following major price falls in late 2011, the First Growths have started the new year on a stronger footing. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50, which tracks the movement of recent vintages of the Firsts, rose 0.97 per cent in the week to Friday, while the Liv-ex Claret Chip gained 0.71 per cent – its first rally since the end of July.

First Growth turnover has crept back up over the last few days and prices for numerous vintages have edged higher. "Off vintages" were among those on the move last week, led by Latour 2002, which gained almost 14 per cent. Latour 2007 also recovered lost ground and rose 11.3 per cent to £3,946.

The table below shows the Liv-ex Fine Wine 50's top risers and fallers.
