  • Seña 2022 has been released internationally for £1,120 per 12×75.
  • The wine has a score of 97 points from The Wine Advocate’s Matthew Luczy
  • The 2022 release comes at a significant premium to others on the market, but there is value to be found among back vintages.

As part of La Place de Bordeaux’s Autumn Releases campaign, Seña 2022 has been released at €90 per bottle ex-négociant, flat on the 2021’s release price.

The wine is being offered internationally at £1,120, also flat on last year. Since its initial release, the 2021’s Market Price has fallen by 18.8% and now sits at £909.  (N.B. While the correct prices were listed, in the initial print this drop was erroneously calculated as 32.3%)

At this price, the new release is the most expensive of the last ten vintages of Seña. Given its high price point, the  2019 and 2018 vintages seem more attractive. See more pricing analysis below.

Critical response

According to Matthew Luczy (The Wine Advocate), the 2022 vintage of Seña is a ‘gorgeous, energetic and exuberant example of poise and clarity that should be a pleasure to follow in the cellar’. He awarded the wine a score of 97 points.

Joaquin Hidalgo (Vinous) awarded 96 points, adding that the 2022 is ‘more intense and nuanced than other vintages’.

Jane Anson gave a score of 94 points. According to her, the wine is ‘intense and powerful, reflecting a good quality vintage with low rainfall but few excess temperatures’.

Pricing analysis

Today’s release comes at a minimum 18.8% premium to any other vintage available on the market. Buyers may instead turn to the 2018 or 2019 vintages. Both received  98-point scores from The Wine Advocate, and are available at  Market Prices of £702 and £796 respectively.
