Critical response

Jane Anson awarded the wine a score of 96 points. According to her, the 2023 Pavillon Blanc is ‘an exceptional white wine, with sculpted charm, showcasing citrus, lime zest, green apple, anise and sage’.

By contrast, Neal Martin (Vinous) gave a score of 88-90 points, adding that the wine was ‘perhaps not as complex as expected’.

According to Antonio Galloni (Vinous), ‘the Pavillon Blanc is quite powerful in this vintage, marked by a combination of creamy, textured fruit, bright acids and an almost phenolic feel’. He awarded it a score range of 92-94 points.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) awarded a score of 94-96 points, noting aromas of ‘fresh grapefruit, pineapple, and white peaches leading to hints of honeysuckle, orange blossom, and coriander seed with a waft of yuzu’.

Yohan Castaing (The Wine Advocate) awarded the wine a range of 93-95 points. According to him, it ‘possesses a deep, complex bouquet of spring flowers, lemon oil, ripe orchard fruits, lemongrass and sweet gooseberries’.

James Lawther MW (Jancis Robinson) gave a score of 16.5/20. While he adds that the 2023 has ‘less concentration than some years’, he praises the wine for being ‘long, poised and zesty’.
