As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Ormes de Pez 2023 has been released at €16.80 per bottle ex-négociant, down 20.0% on the 2022 release (€21.00).
It is being offered by the international trade for £216 per 12×75, a 15.6% decrease on the 2022’s opening price (£256 a case).

Critical response
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel-range of 91-93 points. While he was not impressed when originally trying the wine at the chateau, the critic described a later tasting at the UGC as ‘promising’.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) described the wine as ‘a powerful, bold Saint-Estéphe’. Scoring it 91-93 points.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) said the wine ‘rolls effortlessly out of the glass with notes of baked plums, boysenberry preserves and kirsch’, scoring it 86-88 points.
Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux) scored the wine 92 points, calling it ‘great quality, easy to recommend and should offer good value’.
Pricing Analysis
Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2022 vintage which boasts 93 points from Neal Martin and is currently available for £216 per 12×75, flat on today’s release.
Furthermore, 2016 and 2019 vintages may also be interesting to buyers.
The 2019, with 92 points from Neal Martin, is currently available at £180 per case, a 16.7% discount on today’s release. The 91-point 2016 is available for the same price as the 2019 but does benefit from extra years in bottle.
