As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château L’Évangile 2023 has been released at €150 per bottle ex-négociant, a 30.6% decrease on the 2022 release (€216).
It is being offered by the international trade for £1,896 per 12×75, a 29.1% decrease on the 2022’s opening price (£2,676 a case).

Critical response
James Suckling awarded the wine a barrel range of 96-97 points, describing it as ‘classy and focused, providing elegance with strength’.
Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux) scored L’Evangile 96 points, remarking that ‘you see the impact of clay soils in the building of the powerful architecture and the plush damson and black cherry fruits’.
William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) awarded this year’s vintage a range of 93-95 points, celebrating the wine’s ‘textural attack that segues into a supple, integrated core that’s framed by sweet, powdery tannins’.
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel rand of 94-96, saying ‘this is a lovely L’Évangile that deserves five or six years in bottle. It will be worth the wait.’
Pricing analysis
While many of L’Évangile’s back-vintages are available at a discount to today’s release, the 2020 vintage comes into sharp focus. With a 95-point score from Neal Martin, it is currently available at £1,416 per 12×75, down 36.2% from its original release price.
Fans of Antonio Galloni (Vinous) may be interested in the 2021 vintage. Boasting 96 points from the critic, the wine is currently available for £1,796 per 12×75.
The 2022 vintage remains the highest-rated from Neal Martin in recent years, with 96 points. It is currently available at £2,220 per 12×75, a premium to today’s release.
