Critical response
According to William Kelley (The Wine Advocate), the 2023 has ‘more polish and refinement’ than previous vintages, thanks to the family’s new winery allowing for better precision. He awarded a barrel score of 93-95 points.
Lisa-Perrotti Brown MW (The Wine Independent) complimented the ‘compelling energy and freshness’ of the wine’s palate, giving a score of 90-92 points.
Neal Martin (Vinous) gave a score of 91-93 points, describing the wine as ‘notably forward and unabashed’.
‘Clearly, we have entered into a new era of Langoa’ said Antonio Galloni (Vinous), who also gave the wine a score of 91-93 points.
Jane Anson called it ‘a fairly old school Langoa in the best possible way’, awarding a score of 94 points, her joint highest score for Langoa Barton of the past decade.

Pricing analysis
While today’s release comes at a discount to last year’s, it is one of the more expensive vintages on the market. Buyers looking for value have options in back vintages.
The 93-point 2017, 2020 and 2021 vintages are all available at a discount to today’s release and may be of interest to buyers. While the 2021 has the lowest Market Price of the three (£310), the 2017 and 2020 benefit from extra time in bottle.
While it comes at a slight premium to today’s release, fans of Neal Martin may wish to look at the 2019 – the critic’s highest scoring vintage of the decade with 94-points.
